OUR ROYALTY
The Year of Adventure

RANDALL HUGHES, ON
NEPTUNUS REX XXVIII

AMANDA SCIARROTTA
QUEEN AMPHITRITE XXVIII

The Hughes Coat of Arms

Our family is primarily of English descent. My ancestral name is actually Paschall. My father was born in Tennessee as E. L. Paschall, and was adopted by the Hughes' after his parents were lost in an accident during the Depression. The Paschall family tree traces back to 1600 in England.

The Coat of Arms consists of the Shield, the Symbols (called charges) on the shield, the supporters on either side of the shield, the helmet atop the shield, and the crest above the helmet.

The Supporters are the Sea Horse, symbolic of safe travel by sea, and the Sea Lion, symbolic of courage at sea.

The charges on the shield from left to right, starting on the top row.

Paschal Lamb,
(The Paschall's crest), symbol of faith and gentleness. Lion, (The Hughes' crest), symbol of courage. Hammer & Nail, representing my business of tools & fasteners. Celtic Rings, at the center of all, symbol of family and unity.
Scallop Shell, represents my love of the beach and shelling. Dolphin and Water, symbol of my reverence of the sea and its creatures.

The Helmet atop the shield denotes wisdom, protection and security in defense.

The Crest atop the helmet is the King's Crown which denotes royal status.

This Coat of Arms appears on my King's coin.

The Year of Adventure

Adventure Definition: 1: Participation in bold or unusual undertakings. 2: An exciting or remarkable experience with a tinge of uncertainty.

O.K., perhaps this defines every year in YMKN. It certainly is your new king's expectation for 2007/2008. Both myself, and your outstanding Board of Directors, will be diligent in our efforts to meet, and exceed these expectations. We will be planning some new Adventures this year to compliment our exciting schedule of events. With your participation we will make this year truly remarkable.

Men of age object too much, consult too long, adventure too little, and repent too soon.

- Dale Carnegie

Qualifications for Court membership include: ladies must be between 21 and 30, unmarried and no children.  The minimum age can be reduced to 18 in the case of being a Krewe member's daughter or stepdaughter.

If any young lady has previously been a member of the Court and she wishes to represent the Krewe again on the new Court, she must complete an application as if she was a brand new applicant.

The Krewe will sponsor an Annual Court Tea.  Prospective members will learn about the Krewe, its history, membership and its events.  For this reason, prospects are obliged to attend the Tea. The time and location will be announced.
